AMOS 8. RAMSEY. Columbus, Ohio, (VI. 14. 1844. For .Sale, by J. B. Wheatou, 8. Clark and Denig & Son, Columbus. Dec. 6, 1814 ly. Iinporlnnl to Parent and Teachers. McGUFFEY'S ECLECTIC READERS nre now pre-sentrd, newly stercolyicd, thoroughly revised, and greatly enlarged, with many and impoilaul improvements, and in their approved form arc regarded as the clieapcst and best reading books in the English language, In this series, comprising as it does a careful selection of moral, instructive and entertaining matter, progressively arranged, and graduated with referenco to the capacity of the pupil! Dr. McGuf-fey has afforded to parents mid teachers a mosl thorough, complete and efficient auxiliary in ihe education of youth. There does not exist a series ol' School Readers more admirably and philosophically adapted to lead the pupil step by step from Ihe elements of the language, lo ihe farthcrcst point in attaining which the aid of an instructor can avail him. The Cincinnati Public Schools have recently been remodeled In some extent as regards the use ol books, and notwithstanding Ihe xcnlotia efforts of others to inlrmluce their own publications, MeGufl'ey's Eclectic Readers, 4c., were unanimously ic-adoptcd by the trustees. Ray's A riihmclie, parts 1, 2, mid 3, were also adopted in the same schools. I. N. Whitino & Huntington, Booksellers, Columbus, are agents for Iho publishers of the Eclectic Srhnnl Books, and will supply country merchants at Ihe publisher's whole-ale prices. Recommendation. The Board of School Examiners for Ihe eonnty of Franklin, under Ihe provisions of the School Law which empower ihem to recommend to the several schools within said county such school books as they deem best adapted to the purposes of education, propose, after examination, the use of McGuf-fcy's Eclectic Readers newly revised editions, and Ray's Arithmetical course, as the best within iheir present knowledge. As uniformity is desirable, and a uniformity of good books absolutely necessary lo prevent frequent changes, it is hoped thai teachers will use every laudable effort lo effect the introduction of ihe above recommended scries of hooks. She came to Cincinnati some time since, and began lo despair of getting better; in deed she goi so bad, the worms came up in her throai her sufferings became almost intolerable. Hearing of the many cures performed by Sherman's Loienges, she thought that she would try them last August. I stepped in your store and got a box of the worm lozenges and I have every reason to rejoice that I did so. She took but our. half box, when Ihe worms came irom ner in bunches. I could not be positive, but 1 would suppuse thai there were from fifty lo sixty in each bunch. The last dose brought several while worms, from twelve lo fifteen inches long. She began lo gel well, and fell belter than she had for years. Being cured, she gave the balance of tho box to a neighbor hy the name ol Herald, who lives a short distance from us, who has Iwo children, one five and the other Iwo years of age, who were much troubled with worms, and I have heard since, thai by the time they had used up the box, both children were entirely cured." Esa.. wilh the Annotations of Mr. Bell and Mr. Eden. Edited by J. C, Perkins, Esq. Four volumes, 8vo. " Brown's Reports embrace Ihe period from 177H to 1794, while the woolsack w as occupied iu succession by those two master minds, Lord Thurlow and Lord Loughborough. Tho first appearance of these Reports seems lo mark an epoch in the Reoorts of Chancery not unlika that whirh a litiU Ui was established by the Term Reports in the Knur's Bench. Thenceforward ihe judgments in both courts have appeared in an unbroken succession Brown, therefore, must be considered as Ihe leader of Ihe regular line of Reports in Chancery."The cases he has reported are of great practical value, a large part of them lying al the very foundation of Chancery, Their importance is attested by the fact that Brown's Reports are oftener cited by writers of authority than any oiher scries of Reports in Chancery. In England ihey have been enriched by termed and laborious annotations by two different editors, Mr. Bell and Mr. Eden. Until Ihe present time, however no edition of them has appeared in Ihe V. Slates. "We have now before us the first volume of an American ediiion, which promises to surpass in interest and practical vniuv any 01 ine r.ngusn roiuoui 01 ine worx; nor do we believe thai there is any edition of any Reports that has ever been published, either in England or America, whirh k - commended hy suck useful and ampla editorial labors. Tha notes of Mr. Belt have been retained, and those of Mr. Eden, so far as Ihey could bo made supplementary to Ibese, have been added. Thus the separate labors of these editors ara accumulated oa the same page, imparling of itself lo the present edition, a higher value than belongs to either of the English editions. In England no similar amalgamation of tin two series of notes could lake place, as each is protected by im; laws oi copyright. .... I he notes ol the present edition are strictly practical. They ara calculated to add essentially to the value of the Reports, as a book of reference m Coons, and of daily use in the profession." Law Krvorter for Ma. Several thousand boxes have been sold wilhiii the last year, restoring lo health persons in almost every stnge of consumption, and those laboring under the most distressing colds and coughs. Jonathan llowarlh, Esq., the well known temperance lecturer, took a severe cold lost January hy sleeping in damp sheets, that seemed to have seltlod in a consumption. Ilu raised a good deal of bloody mailer, and his cough was so harrassing and incessant that he could get no rest by day or nighl. After trying various remedies without relief, he tho't that death alone would relieve him of his misery. But by the ad vice of a lady he purchased a box of Sherman's Couh Lozenges; they gavehim great rclief, and to his surprise made him rest easy, and enabled him to sleep sound all night; three days' use of them made a new man of him, and he is recommending Sherman's Lozenges lo all his acquaintances. SHERMAN'S WORM LOZENGES are Ihe only infallible worm dcslioying medicine ever discovered. 1.400.000 boxes have been sold, and not a failure has ever been known. T. & Co., 147 Main street, Cincinnati. Gentlemen: My wife l.ns been afllicled with worms from Ihe ago of ihrec years, and has never been without Ihem. She resided al Middletown, Butler county. Al times, she has been so afflicted wilh worms as to require Ihe attendance of two of the best physicians in the place one doctoring her for one complaint, and one for another; but gelling worse, sho removed to Madison, and was under the hands of two of Ihe most celebrated physicians of thai place, but all did her no good.
