Dear Sir I received your kind letter in due season for which I think you I am verry sorry you could not make it convenient to call on your return. I anticipated much pleasure in seeing you on your return & felt quite disappointed but hope it is all for the best. It always gives me pleasure to see or hear from those who were friends to my dear Brother in Kendal. I consider them as my friends & never hear the name of Ohio, mentioned without taking a deep interest. Its being the former residence of my dear Brother . As to the account against the estate of Alexander Skinner deceased I believe the mistake is mine. I think I said something similar to what Mr Roach wrote but after I returned home I examined Mr Skinner letter & found that I was mistaken. I was very sorry that I had said anything of the kind but did not trouble yourself anything about it for I thought I should see Mr Roach on his return & rectify the mistake. I am sorry I have given any uneasy feelings to Mrs Skinner & hope she will not trouble herself any more about it. I think I should not made the mistake had not Mr Skinner written in such scrawls & her tracks but to tell the truth it was with difficulty that I could understand all his characters. The note Mr Wales left with me from Charles against his Brother at Bridgport I gave to Esq Johnson for collection & upon enquiry the Esq found he was not worth anything & if he commenced a suit he would take the poor mans oath & I must lose it but says he will do the best he can for me & perhaps he may get a part of it but the probability is I shall not get much if anything for it from your unworthy friend
