A-367-1
Nantucket 1st Sept 1810
Dear Sir
Having formerly some little acquaintance
with you, I now take the liberty to recommend to
you Mr. Edward Wood, an Englishman, he is a
Wool Stapler by Trade, my acquaintance commenced
with him the year 1806 at Sydney in New
South Wales, and I have often heard him Spoken
of in that place, as an honest, Industrious Young
Man - When I arrived at Nantucket in the year
1807, I found Mr. Wood at this place, as Agent for
a Merchant of New South Wales - During his
Residence at his place he has behaved with the
greatest propriety, and I do with pleasure recommend
him as an honest, Sober, Industrious Young Man,
and as he is a Stranger in our Country and talks
of removing to your place I make no doubt you
will render him all the advice and assistance
which he may stand in need of -
I am very Respectfully
Mr. Thos Rotch Dear Sir Your Obt Servt
