Dear Brother Philadelphia 3 mo 26 1814
To thine of 18 Ult acceptably recieved, I might have made an earlier reply, but their being no particular cause to make it neessary, it has been postponed to this time pr return of our matual friend A Skinner to you.
The post noes of Bk of Pennsas of which thy said Letter acknowleges receipt in Amt of $4050, were sent thee, from my belief that so would be best for thee, as in my view that Bank is as likely to stand & be able to pay Specie for its own notes, as any within this City. And if so, such of them as thou hast not occasion for or canst not do better with, may be sent back & be the same exactly as if not drawn out. At the time I sent those notes, there was not much Ster about the Banks, or their Notes, but soon after it began & since many Waggon Loads of Specie have gone from hence to Boston, & there has been apprehensions, least it might all be drawn away.
