Cedarswamp L Island 1st of 11th mo 1813
Once more I attempt a paper [illegible] to my very near & much loved friends disantly situated from us to inform them that our time is yet lengthen'd out, and our family are favoured with the enjoyment of health, my dear wife not quite so much so of later time as has been usual for her, a complaint that renders her uncomfortable and afflicted, but not to confine her much, the complaint in her leg that I informed you of some time past appears removed, we were lately at Flushing attending our Quarterly meeting, where we say Wm Thurston who informed us he had thougth of setting out soon to Journey on as far as Wheeling, to see the relatives of his decreased wife, unless the weather should be such as to discourage him, which I expect will be the case but engaged, that of he did not come on himslef, he would forward a letter to you, if one came to his hand. I did some time past recieve a letter form my dear friend, Thos written when his dear C was from home, in which he informed of having been engaged with some other bretheren in applying to the Legislature of the state in which ye reside, but to what purpose we find not, but fear, if report speak true that our friends have felt trials and provings not a few, we have very often looked towards you with affectionate nearing and sympathy, sincerely craving that the strength of Israel will be with, sustain and preserve thro every trial that may await both you and us and all that desire to exalt the standard of the royal course, but truly it
