Esteemed Frnd
Thy Fav'r 16th Ins't we duly rec'd, since
which time, we have consulted Saml Slater respecting
selling the Mashenary at Farmington, or the Jenneys
in particular, & it seems to be our united opinion that
as they would fetch so small a sum, if sold for what
they probably would now bring, that if hereafter we should
get a Person to go to Farmington, with views either of
Purchasing the Place, or useing the mashenary, if the
former it might be an inducement to have the
mashenary, when if separated there might not be
the same inducement, however, if there was
purchasers for both, we should be desided for
selling, but at the present we think best to decline
separateing the mashenary first, If a Purchaser
could be found for the real Estate at any thing near
its value, we think we should not hesitate at selling
that, & then we could determine on what to do
with the mashenary - Thou may however have
the use of either or all the Jenney, subject to be
replaced at Farmington if needed there, if not to be
disposed of agreable to our future orders, we think it
would be no injury to them, but advantage to be in
use somewhat induces us to make thee the offer.
We have written John Russ that he may
furnish thee with yarns & take thy manufacture in
pay, on conditions of a mutual exchange & not subjecting us
to any additional Comm[missing] which if not agreeable we
would propose sending [missing]such yarns as thou may want
