           Esteemed Friend
                  Most of the above articles are sent by direction of
  thy Brother William; the remainder I have taken the liberty
  of offering for thy inspection; whatever thous shouldst not
  approve be pleased to return when opportunity offers. Those
  articles which have no price affixed to them I have not any
  of for sale - of the others I have thought I am apprehensive
  the wholesale price of spades & shovels may appear high but
  do not fear but that on a comparison with lower priced
  ones the advantage will be evidently on the side of those
  I have sent.  it is possible some of thy friends in Hartford may
  be desirous of obtaining such if so I shall be
  obliged to thee for thy recommendation.

  edge tools - I many probably
  trouble thee with specimens of them.
