A-346-1
Sir I have this day received a few lines
from the Revd Amzi Armstrong requesting me to
write to you and give some statement of this general
character. he resided in this town about twenty years
(a neighbour of mine) a clergyman and was highly appr
aved of as a faithful servant of his Lord and master. I
always considered him a Man of the Strictest integrity nor
did I ever hear it called in question by any person while
he remained here and as such I do with pleasure recommend
him to thee Publick. he removed from this to Bloomfield in
this State about three years since not from any disagreement
between him and his people, but by reasons of some infirmity
of body which he laboured under which prevented his preaching.
he still retains his unblemished character as far as I know or
have heard from. yours etc Jesse Upson Vice President
