Dear Thomas Nantucket 12 mo 24, 1789
By Tristam Gardner whom we sent to take charge of the Falkland, we wrote thee a few ines, in wch we desired thou wouldst get 1 hhd of Mollasses & abt 2000 lb Pork it to be had at 2 1/2 prC lb wch Wm informed us was the price at Newport. If thou hast not already procured it & it cant be got at that price thou may go as high as 2 3/4 as we have none provided for the Sally. If thou canst get for 200 lb of good Cheese, not, sKim Milk at 4 or under we wish thee to get it, & a firkin of Butter as we have neither for the Sally, yet provided to her.
12 mo 25th We this day recd thine of the 16th inst via Bedford & from thy mention of the Brig's being nearly ready, we shall expect this night or tomorrow. Should Prince not have come away get the above mentioned One or two hundred weight of Cheese to come by him. We are glad thou disposed of the bill & hereby not necessitated to rise the money left in J Hadwens hands on Acct of Wm Sanford & Crocker or Nye.
