This serves to inform you that I have employed Solomon Loomis, the man who built your mills at East Hartford, to view and ascertain their value; accordinly, he has attended to the business, and gives it as his opinion that the mills and priviledges appertaining to the same, are worth Fourteen hundred dollars. he also says they are much out of repair, must have a new floome, new water wheels and before long a new bed, besides other repairs; in consequence of this report, together with the opinion of others respecting the quality of the Land etc I had made up my mind to offer you for the whole, Eighteen hundred dollars, but since conversing with John J Wells about the property, have concluded to offer Two Thousand, agreeably to the conversation we had together before
