Mr Thomas Rotch, Dear Sir,
Your favour 23d instant I recieved last evening and have noted the Contents, William Buffum will be paid L 2.17.1d and John Greene for the Cask of Cheese, George Arnold I paid for the two firkins Butter when he brought them and have his bill & rect for some 68 & 65 Nt is 133 - @ 1/4 $29.56 which is to your debit. The ballance of $120.88 1/2 due BW & Jackson from you I have paid and is to your Debit. The quantity of Spermaceti Candles I recieved from BW & J for you was 95 boxes of which is total pr a/c Sales rendered the remaining fifty boxes is on hand I shall embrace every opportunity that may offer agreeably to your request to make sale of them either by bartering of them for such articles as you mention in your letter of the 14th October or Selling for Cash on a Credit. I was glad to hear that the Butter Lard & Cheese sent by Capt Allen came to hand in good order, I have recieved in addition to the sum mentioned in my former letter for Candles $77.79 for your government at port I have made a statement of our a/c as it stands in my Books.
The Bank in this town has latterly made a divident to the Stock holders of 10 prC pr annum paid half yearly as to the price of shares no price can be mentioned as there is no sellers. The Cashier of the Bank informed me that there has been no sales of late. And that members who wish to purchase shares had requested him to give them information should any stock holder wish to sell any to his knowledge but he knows of no person at present who will consent to sell at any price.
