Respected friend
Thy favour of 13th Inst is received and duly noted. In reply I may deserve that I put in the hands of a Broker 4000 dollars with which he thought he could purchase stock to that amount: but was unable from a sudden use to purchase more than 2000 dollars at thy limits, the Certificates for which thou hast acknowledged the receipt. the Balance of what I advanced the Broker. he returned after keeping it in his hands about 4 weeks. I note the satisfaction thou expressed in thine at the probability of my not having purchased more stock, and that in consequence of the high premium thou thought it no object. I think proper to observe that although thy properly in my hands has always been subject to thy drafts, Yet I expect to allow the Bank Interest for it. Thy request to pay Jno Murray $13.50 shall meet immediate attention. I beg thou wilt think of no apology for the trouble thou gives me, as thy letters afford me quite an opposite sensation. I remain with cordial and reciprocal sentiments of esteem towards thyself and Wife. for Isaac Hicks
