Dear Brother New Bedford 5 mo 30 1801
Thos Rotch
After repeated attempts I got a writ served on Peter Coffin returnable to last court in which we served him for the balance due on the candles he endeavoured to embezel of ours at New Providence. this writ brot him off when I effected a settlement with him without its going to Court & obtained for thee $57 in money & his note to thee from $73.27 payable in 3 months which I hope I shall be able to collect when due, which I shall advise thee of. I suppose thou has ere this availed thyself of $1600 which I ordered Isaac Hicks to place to thy Credit, with much love to thy wife, E.Allen & Betsy in which my wife & family joins thy affectionate brother, Thos Hazard Jrn.
