Sir,
We are favored with your esteemed letter of July we are rather surprized at the Content & immediately referred to the letter Capt Hawes wrote us under the 30 April last from Hamburg from which we extract as far as related to the remittances made us by Mssrs Lubbert & Dumas by his order "he says Massrs Lubbert & Dumas have already "remitted you for account of mr W. Rotch Junr and then remains for "Acct of Mr Thos Hazard of New Bedford Merct Bank 14288.10 and "for Acct of Mr Tho Rotch Merct Bank 8242.12 which will be sent forward "to you by first mail" as this property waited he direction of Hawes. We took it for granted his appropriation of it was Correct. Mr Hazard will therefore, if we do not hear from him before, will have the goodness to write to us on this business that we may make the proper Transfer from his to your Account. In the meantime we have paid your Brother Mr Benjs Rotch's vill on us from York in favor of Barnett Hoare & Co for L1000, and placed the same to your Debit.
