I have with peculiar pleasure observed published from the Philadelphia Freemans Journal an account of thy having successfully established a White ware Pottery near Philadelphia
and although I am an entire Stranger to thee and have no claim to propriety, in the liberty I have taken, yet from the recollection of the many applications made to me while a resident in Connecticut where soon after the embargo Ten years since, I established a Woolen Factory,to gain information on the subject and the plea=
=sure it game me to communicate the little experience. I had gained wiith a hope of an increase of these Manufacturers for the promotion of Our Independence. I am hereby encouraged to communicate my solicitude for the establishment of a White Ware Factory and after erecting a Woolen Factory in this Town where are made superfine Cloths and Cassimeres of excellent Quality. I have for near one year sought for information upon the subject of StaffordShire Pottery and after satisfactory experiments that has confirmed my Judgement
that we have both the Clay and Flint for making good Table Ware I have erected a pair of Stones of Millstone Grit now in operation for by Water grinding Flint^ and shall shortly have a Blunger by the same power for washing and purifying the White Clay. and a building Seventy by Twenty Five feet, a Turning room and one more lathed and plaster and a small Cellar for prepared Clay a round Brick Kiln about 14 feet diameter with some other conveniences, amongst which is One hori=
zontal Wheel or Lathe this has only been used for turning common Ware the Clay is white and free from the Oxyd of Iron and burns as white as the Liverpool or Staffordshire Ware. I have Plaster of Parris for Moulds this is obtained at Cleveland, brot from the north side of
Lake Erie and appears no way differing from that of Novascotia, The
