Dear Cousin
Tho it may seem an indifferent matter to receive the testimony
of one whose judgement and discerning is rather inferior to the common
level, especially in a case where the copious effusions of the most illu-
min d mind accord, in acknowledging the worth, the superior virtue
and loveliness of My endeared, much lamented, and late departed
sister; yet feeling myself a partaker in the loss have frequently felt
disposed to address thee with a few lines on this mournful occasion, on
which my own with the minds of many of thy friends here have
not
been bow d in Sympathizing sorrow, yet without hope- far from it
what more evident proofs could be desired of her heavenly re-
ception than have been granted ? how many have been added to
the evidence arising from her sweet and innocent life, the Rightness
of her excellent example, which continued unsullied to the last; to
me it loudly spoke the inviting language of one fr advanced in
the holy [illegible] follow me as I follow Christ Assured thus that
she is safely Anchored in the Celestial Port of permanent repose. how
can we deplore her happy escape from this tumultuous scene,
when we feel our selves encompassed with billions of
affliction on every side, attended with a diversity of dangers
and perils with cried perturbations that occur on this rough
sea to interrupt our passage. May we not rather rejoice that
she is safely landed, indeed on her account we may but I will
know the pangs which those separations occasion from frequent
and recent experience I can feel for those that grieve for the
removal of their precious friends- I know the present
