Dear Friend,
It is with feeling of the sincerest regret
I record the loss we have sustained in the removal
of our highly valued friend Nicholas Waln; which
event took place on the 29th. He was 72 years of
age all to one day. While we feel, & deplore the
death of our beloved, departed friend, are we not
persuaded he has exchanged a life of trials, and
exercises, for an immortal one, of perfect tranquility
and felicity---I deeply lament our loss; for I know
not where there will be found another, to fulfill
the various useful stations in life which he
occupied, with such exemplary propriety.
He was a bright example of self-denial & humility.
the sacrifices he made, in obedience to this requiring
of his divine teacher, and leader; and the steadfastness,
and zeal, with which he maintained the glorious
cause committed to his trust, through abundance
of tribulation and temptation are remarkably
memorable; and while I reflect on it with much
