My Dear Charity
Having recently parted with
our mutual friends M & N. Bull, & their daughter Hetty
who have spent the evening with us, I feel that I can
=not retire to rest untill I have communed with thee
an hour or two in this way- Our theme this evening,
as is commonly the case, when in company with those dr
friends, has stretched away beyond the Aleganys, we
expressed our gratitude to thee my dr C for thy kindness
in so speedily answering our letters last spring, and
we dwell't much on the departed day, & hours, which have
been spent in the endearing society of our beloved friends,who
are now for away - we were united in feeling that
those day & those hours have been among the most
profitable, as well as the most pleasing, of our lives.
The subject could not but excite in my bosom
a glow of affectionate, & gratfull feeling seldom
produced- we had anticipated a return of those scenes
& interviews so satisfactory to our feeling, but have
been disappointed - was it not decided upon, my dr frd,
return at the expiration of one year, or were we mis=
taken, or have you since made differnet arrangements
when you last departed from N. England, that you should
