Thy kind & affectionate letter my beloved
the
Charity, has been received with ^ tenderest emotions
of gratitude, & be assured my dearest friends that, what
=ever may have been the appearances no negligence of
writing, or delay of any kind on my part, has ever pro=
ceded from any abatment of friendship, or diminution
of regard but on the contrary your Idea is ever present
in my hours of tender recollection, I have suffered much
from the want of a friend like thyself my dr C. & I
have dwelt more; & with deeper regret on thy absence
if possible, than ever, since I wrote you last, which
I am ashamed to say was [Illegible] last fall
I have frequently said[illegible] strange it is
that, deprived as we are [illegible]between
each other accept by writing[illegible] should so neg=
=lect this only method[illegible] our sentiments
& feelings, as not to write scarcely since in a year, &
after all, could not muster resolution sufficient to write,
had I not experienced such repeated proofs of the benev=
