Thy very acceptable epistle came
safe to hand a few weeks since, & I should have acknow-
ledged it before had I not anticipated seeing thee
on Rhode island, but disappointed , take the early=
est opportunity of informing thee the acceptableness
of it; for truly it came very seasonable & was a
my
cordial to ^ mind - thy maternal tenderness affection
and sympathy, merits much from me of gratitude
it may be, more than I shall have ability to express
as my Situation at this time as at others may
be compared, I think with propriety, to the barren
thistle, (while at Newport) beside the Stately Fir trees
I am now on my way home from there we had
solemn Satisfactory Meetings, I hope & doubt not
many were made to rejoice in the Lord feeling
the Arm of Power to incircle them and as to
myself, I daily receive ore than I merit tho
Short of what my avaricious mind craves of the
Heavenly manna at Seasons being tried with
