My dear Sister
It is with a degree of mortification that
a second letter from thee should reach me before I had made
an acknowlegement of that which gave an account of thy
sickness. the contents claiming my sympathy altho they have
remained untill this time without the expression of the
solicitude which has pervaded my mind. and rejoice now to hear
that thy health has nearly regaind its usual standing
and that Arvine is also mending. I have been out to
day to visit E Barker who is very poorly with a sore
throat which the Doctor calls inflamatory and found she
was a little relieved by applying a blister, but she looks like
a sick person and being under the necessity of exerting herself
on account of her infant, the task is arduous, indeed with
all her care she has a hard struggle. Robert has had the
intermittment fever which might have passed off lightly
had he patiently submitted to the confinement but his ex
posing himself has brought on a relapse which perhaps
he may pay for dearly. A coulord woman who lives with
them has also a sore throat of the same kind. which was
lanced inside, while I was there, and she appeared a little
relieved that at present they are an afflicted family.
in reply to thy enquires about Annas dress as well
as I can recollect I believe was a deep blue Riding dress
