My dear Aunt Philadelphia 7 mo 2d 1824
I have much wished my
beloved Aunt, that it was in my power, to
have visited thee in thy present situation, and
to have done what little I could for thy comfort
and have attended on thee in thy sickness, tho
I doubt not thou hast better nurses, it would
have been a great satisfaction to me, as my inclina-
tion often leads me thither; but I still enter-
tain a hope, that thou may be able to take
a Journey this way, if but a few miles, at a
time; it was a great disappointment, when
I returned from New York, to hear that thou
was not able to undertake such a Journey,at
present, as the prospect of a visit from thee,
was indeed looked forward to, with much
satisfaction. Aunt Hazard thought of meeting
thee here; but disappointment seems to be
marked on all our pleasant pictures, no doubt
intended as blessings, to us, if we rightly
improve thereby,
I spend rather more than 3 weeks, in New
York, and its neighbourhood, one week at
uncle Hazards, after my return from Long
Island, where I had the company of Dear *
