My dear Sister
Hearing that a person of this town was
about traveling into the state of Ohio I felt desirous of
improving the oppy to enquire after your welfare, &
inform you of ours altho I have recently written via
Phila & have little or nothing of consequence to pre=
=sent to thine eye- yet the ever lively solicitude
respecting your comfort which has long been cherish d
in my heart arising from sincere affection, leads me
often to wish that we coud become more frequently &
intimately acquainted with your vicissitudes in this
changeful scene; particularly at the present eventful
period when clouds & darkness are round about us,
& many of our blessings seem more than usual of precari-
=ous tenure. I sometimes strive to possess them with increasing
thankfulness adverting to the source of unmeritted bounty
whence they are desir d; feeling at seasons almost trembling-
-ly alive to the consideration that a painful reverse
of situation may in the short of a few hours become
our sorrowful experience- How fleet is a glance of the mind
