Lydia Arnold letter to Charity Rotch, Hartford,12th of 10th mo 1812

	    Dear Charity
			Altho it is with me a poorer day
	as to health then some, yet I am unwilling quite
	to omit endeavouring to afford thee a line as I
	have not been able to have opportunity with Alex
	=ander  just saw him at the Funeral  he was
	a short time at our House when I was unable
	to be up that on expecting he would again call
	I did not use the endeavour I should have
	done it is truly a Satisfaction the hearing
	of thy recovery to a prior good state of Health.
	mine is far otherwise although more comfort
       =able and some Symptoms more favourable
        have been very little afflicted with my old Com
        -plaint of Spasm in my Breast  although it is
        apprehended by My Physicians Cogwel & Colling
        that the long Continuance of that Complaint has
        so far Iritated and weakened my lungs as to make
        it the Source of the Collection of water that has
        been universal thro the whole System yet I 
        am not so much Swell. & therewith.  as for a Num
        =ber of Months past, that I think it likely thou
        would hardly have known me some of the time
        however afflicted the poor body has been I don t
			know that at any Moment..
