Esteemed Friend
Thomas Rotch Mountpleasant 4th mo 12th 1823
I am about to advise thee on the subject of my house etc in the
town of Mountplesant on account of thy absence at the time
of our last Yearly Meeting. there was very little said on that
Subject, I thus continue to have a choice to look towards the
accomedating of friends at the time of our yearly meeting, and am
disposed to be one of four to hold the property for that purpose;
in equal shares, [illegible] when I was about building I looked
forward supposing that there would be an opportunity of doing
something for society, yet not in the way now proposed, I have
a great choice that the property should be held as above stated, and
that it should be rented to some suitable person that would be
willing to take the necessary care of providing for friend at meeting
time and the rent secured that way, according to the former
proposition it will be $.375 for each person, William Judkins
and family now occupy the house and the arrangement were
that I was to live with them, but the most of the time I have
spent on a farm near my old dwelling on short creek, our
children and friends are generally well yet there are some
acceptions, my son David wife was very much hurt by the
carriage being upset, it was thought my many that she
would never be able to walk again, it is near one year
since she makes use of crutches, but can walk across the house
without them, With much respect for thee and Charity
I am thy friend.
