Esteemed Friend
New Bedford 2mo 20th 1796
There being an opportunity at
this time in my store for a Lad, I have rejected several
applications, until I have proposed to thee to let thy Son
Jeremiah fill this vacancy in the Spring. he appear=
ing to have a slender Constitution therefore not so
well calculated for a more Laborious business - he has
endeared himself much to all his friends, by his agreeable
manner, after droping these sentiments with thee and
thy wife to consider of the matter and do that which
seems most easy to your Minds without regard to any
thing that I have discovered of my inclination to have
him with me
