Dear Friend Linn 3 mo 5 1808
I take liberty to inclose in this
a letter form my dear family - I make no
doubt but thou has learned from them of some
of my movements as I have written them
several times - since the date of my last I
had a large publick meeting in Providence
which was very well accepted as appear'd and
tended much to the relief of my own mind
Since coming into these parts I have had at
this place & Salem a publick meeting at each
place, which have been very large and Solid.
I have also attended two meetings at each place
with friends to Solid satisfaction - perhaps
thou may have heard of some serious people
in this country remote from friends who have
refused to ttake an oath or vear arms in the
field and for such refusal or Testimony have
suffered, well I have been to see them; their
residence is at a place called Redding quite a
populous Town, they seemed very glad of the
visit, W. Almay of Providence, M Colins and
two or three other friends from Linn were with
us, we proposed a Meeting among them though
