Respected Friend
Thos Rotch
My neighbour in Philada Furman
Leamnig, has a tract of land near Kendal that
he has offered me for sale & I have undertaken to
view it and determine whether it will suit me.
He informed me a few days ago he had recd a
letter from thee enquiring the price of the land &
authorized me, should I decline the purchase my
self, to inform thee his lowest price.
I am now on my road to the Western country
with my wife & three children - we have a carri-
age & shall of course travel slowly - shall cross
the Ohio at Charlestown, but whether we shall
visit Kendal before or after the Yearly Meeting
we have not determined. Our desire would be
to return home as soon after the meeting as practi-
cable & in the mean time to see as much of the coun-
try as we can. If thou hast an opportunity of commu-
nicating this to my frd G Mantingham I will take it
kind by this telling him - Should we go immediately to
your part of the country we calculate that about two weeks
may bring us there - We go thro' Brownsville.
Excuse this freedom from a stranger -
