Dear Friend
Thy two very acceptible favours of - & 9 mo 9th
reached me in due course - the contents afforded me much satisfaction
particularly the last in observing thou had so satisfactory a meeting with
the Germans and that Baumler had signed the declaration of Trust
but it gave me much concern to find they had objected to its being put
upon Record which caused much reflection against them here and it
was stated it had been torn to pieces - but I have a long letter
from Baumler in which he assures he his company entered a
protest against its being done for certain reasons which he mentions.
he ways it is in the hands of G Hagy's friend at New Philadelphia
and says it shall be put upon Record and I cannot doubt but what
he will fulfill his engagement. I have wrote to him fully on
the subject which is here inclosed also a translated copy into German
so that he and his friends can better understand it and it will be
very satisfactory if thou should find thy mind drawn to make
them another visit which I hope will be the means of getting
this necessary business finished and will have an effect to quiet
the minds of many particularly toward him - he complains
much to me of the treatment of friends here which I have
endeavoured tot remove from his mind - I have felt very much
interested for them and have wished the way may be kept
open between them and friends - I have taken the liberty
of inclosing a Draft on a neighbour of thine for 416.58 cents-
although it is drawn at ten days sight the house that has drawn
it expects it will be paid immediately - thou will please to
