My friend
Thy favour of 9 mo 12 came to
hand last Evening. I find thou seems to need
some explanation as respects some parts of
my letter but I shall at this time say I
am of the opinion that little is necessary
to shew thee what I alluded to, but that
part of thy letter in which thou stated thou
hoped it would be an Incentive to more care
in futor speaking of the draft as if I was
allways or mostly wrong. I can assure thee
I feel every disposition to use towards thee such
conduct & language as will ever be calculated
to strengthen & gain thy best wishes, as for
a word of Language improper for me to use
to one Superior & older than myself, I trust
I shall be found clear of that. I am I confess
of the opinion thou has in the Course
of our acquaintance been rather disposed to
conclude me very often out of the way
perhaps not without cause in some instances
but in others much less so. than thou did
suppose, but Remember this,I have every
disposition. let the language of my letter have
been what it may to conduct in such a manner
