Richard Imlay letter to Thomas Rotch, Philadadelphia, 3 Mo 26, 1816

                   Philada 3 Mo 26 1816
  My friend,
       I herewith send thee a Draft on 
  Allen & Grant Merch'ts of Pittsburgh for
  five Hundred & Eighty one dollars payable
  at sight. I have also sent them four Hund
  40 Doll for the purposes of paying the
  last payment on the Land I entered. I
  wish thee to pay the $581 Doll to Hendly
  if He is going on with the Buildings
  or in other words use thy Judgment
  as respects the payment of the Money
  I cannot say when I shall be able to
  come out, I wish thee to Inform me
  what Land Round the town is worth
  or will fetch pr Acre, Situated as ours is
  & whether any town Lots have sold lately
  and at what price or if in demand.
    I shall write thee soon pleas inform me
  by return mail the Receipt of this.
