I arrived at this place last 6 day night found Maria much more
unwell than when I left her. She having been under the Care
of Doct Stephenson of this place for the whole time and
is still in the same situation, had a verry poor night last
night, She was first aken with violent Chills & fever - has
altered more in the time than I ever saw a person.
her chills & fever State Continue, I hope they may soon be
broke. I much rejoice she is in a situation that she can
get those things her weak and delicate state require
and good medical ade, which I believe she has had I much
hoped she would bore this have been better, but I look forward
tot a quite distant Period for her entire restoration to usual good
health. we have Both experienced every mark of kindness and
attention in the Power of our friends to bestow.
As under every present prospect our return to Kendal is
not at all probable, her physician disapproves of the Step as
also does her connexions at this time, I have therefore thought
best to send a Memorandum of such articles of Household goods
as we left behind. Which I think had best be disposed of-
to the best advantage and as soon as possible or Convenient
if any person will take the Trouble, a reasonable Compensation
we are willing to allow for doing the business.

Maria still continues under the care of her Physician and is
much weaker than when I first begun this letter She has passed
yesterday without a Chill and I hope will not be afflicted with a
return. her extream Weakness is much against her as her appetite
is verry poor. her Physician has been obliged to give her a good deal
of Physic to clear her System of the Complaint which he thinks
had effected her Liver, her countenance looks better to day
than before since sick I can but hope she is in a fair way to recover
