Respected Friend
Thomas Rotch
I have bin at Lisbon
Several times and sent every week but last
and no letter yet. they occasion there of I
kinew not I have all most give out on
coming so far as to think it not worth my
while to go so far for that alone. I recd
a letter from thee that was wrote before I was
out there dated 5th mo 23rd which arrived
a week back I have bin ready to think thou
has sent one and it has gon the same rout
I have it in view to go to red stone or clarkeville
and try my luck there though its not
agreeable to Father that I should work there.
Wm Heald sees he would be afraid to work at
sutch a place as I was prescribing to thee. I dont
new what better I can do and endever to gard against
such things that would be of hurt to me. Our factory is
full at present of hands. I am little or no farmer
and can't think of taking up that. I'll endeaver
to work through this harvest and then if I am now
called upon I will make a more some way or other
If the Germans has thy Factory I am willing to
undertake the carding and Roving for them
and will insure my work or have nothing for it
and as reasonable as any they scan git I have thou
put
-ght that I would not be^ our of business this way again
