Stroudsburgh 2nd mo 15th, 1817
Esteemed friend,
Thy letter dated 1st mo 19th reached here in 19 days
after date which answered my expectations fully in regard to the ques-
ions which I esteem & favour. A few more questions have occurred since
the reception of thine.I feel cautious lest I should weary thy
patience.
There are several families of friends that are a striving to shape
their
business in order to remove to thy neighbourhood who desired me to ask
about several things some of which do not so much concern me.
My willingness to have thier company in some measure promps me to do
so. Is there streams sufficient for mills where that land lies that
is not entered and what is the common yield of such land. Is there any
hatter in the town as there is a young man a friend of that profession
who wished to get a good stand for his business in that country. Is
there a vacancy for a blacksmith. Aare weavers reeds to be had there
and at what price. Is hollow ware to be had there that is good. What
is the name of the monthly meeting thou art a member of where is it
held. How far art thou from quarterly and yearly meetings. How far
from Pittsburgh and what course. I think I shall not be able to
settle my business so as to be ready to remove untill after harvest
my intentions are to get there saesonable to sow a few bushels of
grain if I can hire a piece of ground for that purpose.
Myself and fmaily are in good health After my love to thee
and thy beloved companion my wife joining me therein I conclude
and subscribe myself thy friend
