          You will do an actt of humanity
  & kindness to a very respectable Family by giving
  in all the information in your power, re
  =specting a Mr. Thos Marshall, formerly of London,
  who about 2 years ago purchased a few acres of
  Land of a Mr. Ray, about 2 miles from Kendale
  where as I understand he built as a temporary
  residence a Log House - he was very regular
  in his correspondence with his Family in En=
  =gland, up to 1 Jan 1820 - since which they
  have not heard from him, (His Letter was  
  dated from Jackson Township)- he was then

  on the eve of proceeding with ^Sleigh to Steuben
  =ville - and his friends are apprehensive some
  fatal accident must have occur'd - his servants
     was
  name^ Quick, and some suspicion attaches to
  him, as his character was doubtful -  Mr
  Marshalls friends have written him several
