  L.H. Stockton Esqr.
                  I received a letter from Our
                       Imlay
  esteemed friend Maria ^requesting that I would
  empower thee to call for a division of the
           which
  Estate on ^she is One of the heirs and also to
  deed it away, all which I have no Objection
  provided that her estate should be exchanged
  for other real Estate - But while her Husbands
  Business is in such an embarrassed state I do
  not think it safe that it should be placed in a
  situation to induce his Creditors to prey upon
  her feelings to obtain their ends, upon this sub=
  ject I wish thy advice and if thou thinks
  best that it should be sold or any way exchanged
  the advice of her friend will I think fully meet
  my approbation - please to write me thy senti
  ments freely that I may be governed thereby
  And I do hereby request thee to Call for a division
