Philadelphia 5th Mo 1st 1817
5th of ye week -
I have felt uneasy at the long delay of writing to my
beloved brother, & Sister - but many have been my engage=
ments for sometime past - & my eyes being weak, so
that it injures them to write by Candle Light, has been one
material cause, that it has been thus long, since my pen hath
been thus employ'd - to convey to you my continued affection=
ate feelings - which be assured remains to you ward as
they have hitherto done & trusting the same in regard
to our Mutual love - I feel that it is unnecessary to
spend much time in apologising for my long Silence.
Our Yearly Meeting concluded last 6th day-
it was large - & I believe generally thought an oppor=
tunity of renewed favour - we had the company
of Mary Haftel (from Europe Johnathan Taylor, &
his companion from Your State, & divers others from
New York, & Baltimore Yearly Meetings, whose
Labors of Love, doubtless were refreshing, & strengthen=
=ing to minds. to me it have been a
season of instruction - & hope the favours extended
