Subject	Quaker religion; itinerant Quaker ministry
Description	This letter is one of two letters from itinerant minister,Joshua Evens of New Bedford who asks Thomas Rotch to accompany him on a missionary journey to Nova Scotia. Evens traveled on concern into the Pennsylvania back country in the late 1790s,and there noted lax adherence to the Discipline by Quakers who settled "for the sake of this world s treasure. Many of them appear to have obtained this, and are eagerly pursuing after more." 8" x 7.5" (20.3 by 18.5)

Full Text	B-55-2 14th 4 month 1795 beloved friend Thomas Roatch I now am going to leve my home this afternoon & proseed on my way towards the quarterly meetings of oblong & nine partnors which comes the fore peart of the fifth month & so on through that Country as far as Novescosy & thou can be fee to bare me Company it will be a Comfort to my mind for I was never better suted then I was with thy Company & if Consistant with divine wisdom that it may be so the insuring Summer I know of know man that I should think of before thee I have not been in formed of thy mind but if free to go please to meet me at these meetings. we are all in helth & are likely to peart in near love & hearmony this afternoon you feel near & dear to me I have not time to say much my Sone is free to build the a waggon & if thou choses please to Send the demensens. they are about to send afiew Seed portatows & Some wator milon Seeds of a good Sort no more at this time as I am in hast but love & that in the most feeling mannor to thee & wife brother Sestor & friends of Bedford from thy friend my wife unites with me in love to thee & wife.
