Description	In this letter, Thomas Rotch encloses a Certificate ( A-29-1a) for the Naval Officer of the Port of Roanoke informing him that Samuel Moss and William Walker failed to pay port fees. Rotch asks that the certificate be held in trust in order that it might be presented at the trial of Moss and Walker. 7.3" x 11.8" (18.7 by 29.8 cm)

Full Text	Nantucket 9m 5th, 1789 Friend George Spooner Enclosed is a Certificate from The Navil Officer of the Port of Roanoke specifying that there was in his office a Register left by Sam'l Moss and Wm Walker without paying their fees - - Therefore my request is that this Certificate may be kept by thee - and not exposed to any but they - deny the property belonging to Elisha Norfleet of Edenton should this be the Case - then please to present it to Officer, with this request that he shall take care that it be present at the trial.
