Dear friend
It is with concern for the State of our
Town and Viccinity I now write thee,finding on my
coming in this afternoon that several cases of the
Spotted fever have appeard Two Lads; tenders of
different shops in the Center of our town one in 17 and
the other in 19 hours have died of the disorder and
three of our Physicians who I have just now spoken
with are gone to visit several patients how sick
or apprehended with the same complaint. and
Nathan Green of East Greenwich died last week
probably of the same and some others also have.
Northward in our Neighboring Town. No acct having
reached our Physicians of the Symptoms & treat-
ment in Hartford, I thot [illegible]it thy
attention so far as to find me any information
which may be in thy power to communicate
as to the best mode of treatment which has been
adopted among you, I was informed by Richard Jordan
when hear thy dear Wife used Tonick or Bark Wine
etc best we have since transiently heard,sweating
by warm bath of [illegible] have been since adopted
with more success than Tonick but this is only a transient acct
