Respected friend Thomas Rotch from information on your
letter Dated on 9 24 to Cyrus Coffen I now take liberty to write
you to inform you of my poor Sircomstances in Regard
to this worlds Property I might have property a nuff to
carry me up to this Ohio The Question is this Whether or
no I can have in couringment to Come their to Build for you A
rope walk for me and for me to Carri on the Bussiness and
to pay for the walk- as fast as my industry will admit
and if their is inCourigement that you Can give
me that you Could think Better than working hemp here.
I would thank you to inform me I have a wife and two
Children youngest 8 years, oldest 17 I observed in you letter
you mentioned you would be glad to see two hundred of
Nantucket families Settled their. This last Season I
have ben working hemp for Matthew myrick I Can have
a recommend from Matthew and from Select men of this
town if Necessary and Should be glad of An Answer
as soon as convenient on Account of making
preparation I will thank you to write the price of hemp
and of Cordage To remain you Friend Ichabod Aldridg.
