The new junior high school is being bulk to aceonmod-M Amherst's overcrowded school Steele. However, if building projects are not completed on time, educators will be prepared for Plan B. Boynton said student* would move into According to Boynton, two plans have been shaped concerning building completion of the new junior high school, and the start of the 2002 school year. Plan A would be the ideal situation. Construction would begin in the summer as planned and both projects, the new junior high school and additions to the existing high schools, would be completed before the start of the SepL S, 2002 school year. Students K-1 would report to Shupe, 2-3 Powers, fourth-graders to Harris, 5-6 Nord, 7-8 to the new facility and 9-12 to it If l_SUy to be occupied, even if the move would have to take place during Ihe school year. "We feel we can move two grades in mid-year, but we don't want to move eight grades during that time. It would be too confusing for five-year-olds," Boynton said. "On the other hand, we're not going to leave a new building sitting empty." This year, the city has targeted several streets for asphalt resurfacing as well as crack reseating.
