Reports received from National Head¬ quarters fo the Zionist OrganiMtion in¬ dicate that a iiationally-known si>cakcr. connected with tlie Zionist Orftanization of America will be scheduled for Co¬ lumbus sometiiiiE in December, it was announced today by Robert Mellman, president'of llic Columbus .Zionist Dis¬ trict; Since the' mcclings in Columbus will include all the synagogs, it has been considered advisable ,by the Executive Board to have,the Lipsky meetinij at the Bryden Road Temple. .The first meet¬ ing with Kauride Samuel as the speaker was held recently at the Broad Street Temple. Other mccttngs,. in the next few months will be held at the Agudas Achim Congregation and the Beth Ja¬ cob Synagog,      '   ,

The next meeting of the Columbus.Zionist District will be on Sunday, December 15th, having been. .thangcd from, December Sth, because of the Regional Conference being scheduled in Cleveland on that date. At the De¬ cember loth meeting Rabbi Werne will be the speaker arid election of the new Executive Board will take place. The following have been nominated by the nominating committee:. Joseph "L. Schwartz, Wm. Cohen, Dr.B. W- Abram¬ son, Rabbi Isaac Werne, Rabbi Solomon Rivlin.Max Bogatin, Isaac Nutis, Caiitor Ansel Freedman,. Abe Seff, A. W. Rob- bins, Bert Wolhian, Max Dworkin, and J. K, B.ornstein. Tliese, if elected, and the officers compose the Board of the Columbus Zionist District.

Blumentliai, regional di¬ rector of the United Palestine Appeal for Michigan and Ohio, was present'at the Executive Board meeting and gave many helpful suggestions in regard' to renewed stimulation in the Palestine Roll Call campaign How in process in Co¬ lumbus. He stressed the unusual need arid importance for American Jewry to reach the national quota of five hundred thousand additional names to be regis^ .tered for sympaUictic expression for the rebuilding of Palestine. ; M'r, Blumen- thal, while here, conferred with Mr. Ed¬ win J. Schanfarber in reference to mat- ters concerning the United Palestine Ap peal. He added that all over the coun¬ try, the roll call was receiving ti-emen- dbvis swpirort and he felt certain that . Columbus Jewry would reach its quota of fifteen hundred names.
'Mr. Joseph Solpyc, chairman of the concert program - to be held, in March, announced that a.beautiful radio worth two hundred and fifty dollars would be given away at the meeting in March and tickets were distributed to all members ' of the Executive Board.
It was reported tliat-the Samuel meetr iiig was an overwhelming success with more than six hundred people present. The enrollment in the .Roll Call cam¬ paign as a result of Mr. SamHel's talk has already reached oyer five hundred signatures. . Miss Alma. NEW YORK CITY.—During liic past week the Department of Farm and Rural Work, of the National Council of Jewish Women, conducted an exhibit of its activities. The exhibit was displayed at the headquarters of the Department, at S'Columbus Circle, New York City, Its unique exhibit has aroused wide in¬ terest and- many requests have been made by Council Sections for its display'in their resirective communities.
In connection with the-exliibit, the De¬ partment of Farm and Rural i Work, of which Mrs. Elmer Eckhouse is National Chairman, was at .liomc to visitors. With the members of her ^ staff,• including tlK field supervisors, Mrs, Eckliotise greeted many national, state and local ollicers of the National Council :of Jewish Women. Cohen. Ih common with the other communities, which have arranged similar events, Colum¬ bus Jewry is expecting a, real gala occasion,on the 25th ot Novemher at the Progress Club. A number of prominent Ben B'ritlis of nearby cities have been invited to participate in the festivities. The chief speaker of the evening will be Ejiwin J. Schanfarber, Chairnian of the United Jew¬ ish Fund of Columbus and past president of District No. 2, I.,0. B. B.
The musical program will be furnished by the HillelClioral Club, under the direction of Samuel R, Golilhian. This was arranged thru the courtesy of Dr; Lee J. Levinger, Director of the Hillel Foundation.
. . Alfred M. Cohen has devoted a lifetime of service to Jewish causes and Jewish institutions. He has been head of the T; O. B. B. since 1925. , More than five hundred names have already becii enrolled in Columbus to¬ wards the quota of fifteen hundred sig¬ natures assigned here by the National Zionist RoH Caii committee, it was an-: nouriced by Rabhi Solomon Rivlin,'who is acting as chairman of the local en¬ rollment drive.
According to Robert Mellman, presi¬ dent of the Columbus Zionist district, Rabbi Werne has heen working consist¬ ently and enthusiastically in the enroll¬ ment drive antl has already 'signed more than a hundred names thru his own ef¬ forts. Members of the District have all received booklets containing space for ten signature enrollments and are mak¬ ing effort to pass the Columbus quota. ,,It vvas mentioned liy Maurice Samuel, noted author, and 2ionist leader who spoke last Thursday at the Broad Street Temple under the auspices of the Colum¬ bus Zionist District, that this roll call- in America is the strongest method of ex- presshig to the Arab leaders that Ameri¬ can Jewry can not he frightened-nor in¬ timidated in lessening their enthusiasm and support for the endorsement of the progress'made by the Jewish pioneers in Ealestine.

Many names were enrolled at the Sam-, \id meeting. The campaign will continue in the synagogs, at group meetings of; Jewish organizations, and in the homes, until December 31.

Propaganda, circulated among the ig¬ norant in Palestine, was largely respon¬ sible for the recent iniiurrcclion o£ Arabs against the Jews, Rabbi Lee J. Levinger, director of the Hillel Foundation at Ohio State University, told his audience last Sunday morning at the Fotmdatipn, 9G East 18th Avenue. ¦ Rabbi- Levinger's,'sermon was deliv¬ ered as a book review of "Wiiat Hap¬ pened in Ir'alestiiic," a new book written by Maurice Samuel, Jewish author, -who recently si)oke here at the Broad Street __ Temple.   . ' .
Rabbi Levinger retold the story pf the riots and narrated how 200 Jfews were killed wliile several hundred Arabs were  slain.
"In two. places, cHbron .and Safed, the riots were simple massacres, as the Jews there were old people or young Talmud students, without means of self- defense,'' Rabbi Levinger declared. "In the farm cplori:cs; however, and' in the Jewish city of Tcl Aviv, the Jews de¬ fended themselves to good purpose, though nowhere were they the attackers," the rabbi declared.
Whole System  Dropped
Since the tiprising, the whole system of propaganda has.been dropped and the affair is being utilized iiow for propa¬ ganda against the -British, mandate and the Zionist movement, according to Rabbi Levinger. ,
VI f the great mass of Arabs had risen, the Jews of Palestine would have been wiped out," Rabbi Levinger said. "The mass oi Arabs, however, are peaceful people, friendly with the Jewisli settlers. They owe to them the rising prosperity of the country, the new means of sani¬ tation .and nicdical treatment, the im¬ provement in industry and agriculture, with far more to come.
"Great Britain promised the Arabs po¬ litical independence because of their help to the allies during the war, and they" now possess Arabia- and most of thp lands where Arabs dwell. Palestine was hot included in this pledge; however, be¬ cause it was promised to th^ Jews that they might build, a national .home there. Even so, the Arabs in Palestine enjoy many times the political freedom -which they poiisessed under the Turks.
No Political Desires
'The Zionist prpgriam is the only one not motivated by political desires, but solely by love of tlie ancient homeland of the Jewish people.- The Jews are content to have a British mandatory; they do not wish to rule the Arabs of Palestine. They, want only the right to, a restricted immigration, to build roads, to buy and improve land, to drain swamps, to electrify the waters of the Jordan, to build schools and a univer¬ sity. '
"Their program is one of work, not of conquest. Peace with ' the Arabs i Is a necessary preliminary of Jewish-work in Palestine. The mass of the Arabs are willing; only a few agitators object, using religious arguments W'th their ig¬ norant followers and political argumenta with the British and American, public.
Palestine is guarijnteed for the bold experiment of a Jewish national home, for returning to,the soil there a few of the Jewish people who left it by force 1800 years ago. The experiment is guaranteed by Great Britain in thei Bal¬ four declaration, by the League of! Na¬ tions through the San Remo treaty, by the United States through congressional resolution, by the Jews of the world through the newly organized Jewish Agency; The Jews there ask merely for a period of peaceful labor, to construct a Jewish cultural center and a Jewish agricultural and industrial center in the spot where their people ruled and Wrote the Bible milleniums ago."
