Much thought and hard
work have gone into the
development of a theme and
design for the 55th Annual
Meeting of the Columbus
Jewish .Federation. The
American Jewish Community and the challenges to
be faced in the 80's, with par;
ticular regard to what is
happening " in the Jewish
family, is the theme being
developed by the planning
committee for the meeting
which will be held at Congregation Beth Tikvah on Sun-
" day, Sept. 2U.
The Annual Meeting is
chaired by Joyce L. Zacks.

According to Mrs. Zacks,
"Federation's Annual Meeting, a showcase event, will
be a spectacular affair executed by this strong, committed and creative group of
individuals."
JERUSALEM (JTA)-A
high Israeli official said last
week that Israel held the
Palestine Liberation Organization responsible for
the terrorist attack on a
synagogue in Vienna. But he
carefully stopped short of
saying that Israel regarded
the assault as a violation of
the cease-fire along the
Israeli-Lebanese border.
The' official, Cabinet
Secretary AryeNaor, was
briefing reporters following
the weekly Cabinet meeting
at which JMinisters stood in
silence is respect to the two
persons who died in the at-
tack~Naor indicated that the
attack was not discussed by
the Cabinet
Earlier, Deputy Premier
Simcha Ehrlich told the Army Radio that he did regard
the attack as a violation of
the cease-fire. He said the
fact that the terrorist groups
operate under different
names "does not change
anything." He also said that
"naturally, any murderous
action violates the truce, especially when innocent people are attacked and mur
dered." Israel has insisted
that the cease-fire mandated
the terrorists to halt their attacks not only against Israel

Dr. Kctiin Named Director

Michael C. Kotzin has been
named the new Director of
the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana
Regional Office of the Anti-
Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith. .
Before taking this position,
Dr. Kotzin served for two
years as a Community Consultant in ADL's Atlanta-
based Southeastern
Regional Office, where he
was responsible for a wide
range of ADL activities.
Prior to that, he was a Senior

Michael C Kotzin
Teacher and Lecturer in the
Department of English at
Tel-Aviv University for ten
years, during which time he
spent a sabbatical year in
Chicago and taught at Truman College. He has also
taught at the University of
Minnesota.
A native of Chicago, Dr.
Kotzin holds a B.A. from the
University of Chicago and an
M.A. and Ph.D. from the
University of Minnesota. He
is the author of a book on
Dickens published by the
Bowling** Green University
Popular Press and of articles which have appeared
in professional journals and
thexlaily and Anglo-Jewish
press.
The Ohio-Kentucky-
Indiana office of the ADL is
located at 1175 College Ave.
in Columbus. One of 27
regional ADL offices around
the country, it services the
three-state area in implementing the League's program of combatting anti-
Semitism and other forms of
bigotry, promoting interreligious and intergroup
understanding and cooperation, and conducting an
extensive educational program on Israel and the Middle East.
Dr. Kotzin succeeds the
previous Director, Carol
Lister, who is now Director
of ADL's New York City
office.

Levison, chairpersons, have
announced the cabinet for
the Jewish National Fund
"Chai to 80" Celebration.
This event will commemorate the 80th Anniversary of
JNF. As part of this celebration, senior citizens of the'
Columbus Jewish community will be, individually
honored by their children
with inscriptions in the
Golden Books in Jerusalem.
Each inscription may be obtained for a minimum tax-
deductible donation of $100.
A reception will be held on
Oct. 25 at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin M. Ellman,
260 N. Columbia, at
2:30 p.m.
Cabinet positions'were appointed at ""a recent organizational- meeting, at
which time Dr. B.W. Abramson was given an honorary
cabinet position due to his
many years of dedication
to Zionism. The following
chairpersons were appointed: Mrs. Joan Marks,
Program; Mrs. Roberta
Kohn and Mrs. Claire Gelband, Refreshments; Mrs.
Dorothy Rubenstein and
Mrs. Miriam Paine, Decorations; Mrs. Wendy s LeVine
will be in charge of publicity
and invitations.
