Plans for a "massive
demonstration against Arab
terror" on the eve of the
United Nations debate on
Palestine were announced
last week by the Conference
of Presidents- of Major
American Jewish
Organizations. ?.
Rabbi Israel Miller,
chairman of the Presidents
Conference, said "tens of
thousands of New Yorkers"
were expected to take part in
the rally at 12 noon Monday,
Nov. 4 at- Dag Ham-
marskjold Plaza opposite
the UN, 47th Street and First
Avenue.
Rabbi Miller said the
demonstration was called
"to express outrage at the
UN invitation to the terrorist
Palestine Liberation
Organization and to voice
solidarity with the embattled
people of Israel."
Last week the UN voted by
105-to-4 to seat the PLO "as
the representative of the
Palestinian people" during
the General Assmebly
debate.
In callint for "all-out
mobilization of the Jewish
community to join us at Dag
Hammarskjold Plaza on
Nov. 4i" Rabbi Miller
declared:
"Just as Hitler's an¬
nounced purpose was to
destroy the Jewish people, so
is Arafat's proclaimed goal
the destruction of Israel.
"We will demonstrate to
make known our con¬
demnation of the General
Assembly, vote inviting the
PLO murderers to address
the world from the rostrum
of the UN.
"We will demonstrate to
denounce the Palestine
liberation Organization as
the same murder gang that
assassinated the American
Ambassador in Khartoum,
machine-gunned passengers
at the Athens airport and
butchered Jewish children at
Ma'alot.
"We will demonstrate in
support of the people of
Israel and their insistence
that there can be no peace in

Schoenbrun Says Palestinians Could Non-
Violently Take Over Jordan In 10 Years
By Bill Cohen
Chronicle Special Reporter
The Palestinian people
could have their own country
by laying down their
weapons and gradually
gaining control over Jordan,
said world news com¬
mentator David Schoenbrun
in Columbus October 21.
Before an evening speech
at the Jewish Center,
Schoenbrun, a former chief
' correspondent for CBS News
in Washington and-Paris,
The Red Cross Blood-
mobile will be at the Jewish
Center on Wednesday,
November 6 from noon until
6 p.m. to collect blood to fill

Ford Asserts USSR Has Not Pledged To
Allow Specific Number Of Jew$ To Emigrate
WASHINGTON (WNS) -
In what was called a
clarifying statement,
President Ford has stated
that the Soviet Union has not
pUdged to allow a specific
number of Jews and others
to emigrate annually. The
President's statement,
issued by White House Press
Secretary Ron Nessen, also
stressed that Secretary of
Stare Henry A. Kissinger in
his letter to Sen. Henry M.
Jackson (D. Wash.) which
was part of the trade-
emigration agreement
worked out between thje
White House and Congress,
had not used any number.
"Rather it (the letter) sets
forth the principals to be
applied in handling ap¬
plications and visas of those
wishing to emigrate."
Jackson said later that the
60,000 per annum figure he
had used in connection with
future emigration from me
USSR was "a minimum
standard of initial"
emigration expected from
the USSR. "With the Soviet
assurances conveyed by
Secretary Kissinger to me to
end harassment and in¬
timidation to those seeking
to emigrate, and with the
number of visas rising to
correspond to the number of
applicants, I believe that
Wednesday Is Blood Day
munity Group Blood
Program. All eligible donors
in the Jewish Community
are urged to attend B-Day
and donate a unit of blood to
fill the Central Ohio blood
needs. The process is easy,
painless, and takes about an
hour of time.
The process includes first,
registration, then a brief
medical history to insure
safety for both the blood
donor and recipient. Next
the recording of the donor's
temperature, pulse, and
blood pressure. A drop of
blood is taken for. a
hemoglobin test. The actual
blood donation takes about
ten minutes and less than a
pint of blood, is taken. After
donation the donor goes to
the donor lounge where he
has some refreshments to
more than 60,000 persons will
emigrate each year,"
Jackson said. He repeated
that" the 60,000 figure was to
be a "benchmark" so that
Congress could determine
Soviet compliance. Mean¬
while Kissinger is in Moscow
where he is expected to
clarify for the Russians the
letters he exchanged with
Jackson on the trade -

told The Chronicle that with
their numbers and their
strong " culture,' x the
Palestinians could "in no
time at all, convert Jordan
into a Palestinian state if
they want to."
Calling the Palestinians
"intelligent, hard - working,
and industrious," Schoen¬
brun said this type of
Palestinian state would not
be independent at the ouset,
"but I guarantee you.that if.,
that happened, Mussein
would be the last king in
Jordan."
"They'd vote themselves
in a constitutional republic,"
forecast Schoenbrun. "They
wouldn't even have to have a
coup d'etat because they'd
control the country in fen
years."
Schoenbrun, the author of
a book titled "The First
Israelis," said there is a
movement among Israelis
towards recognizing the
right of the Palestinians to a
state of their own.
!'I think that fun¬
damentally you'd get no
quarrel among many
Israelis about the fact that
the Palestinians really
should have a homeland," he
said.
'"Hie quarrel is where the
homeland should be, what its
borders should be,' and
whether the Palestine
Liberation Organization
should be accepted ,as the
spokesman for all
Palestinians," Schoenbrun
explained.
Schoenbrun, now Senior
Lecturer _.at—,.Columbia_
University's CrjraSuate
School and at the New SchooT
of Social Research, said he
believes a majority of
Israelis are "distressed at
being put into an impossible
position."
"If any people in the world
should understand the
hunger for an independent
land of their own, it's the
Jewish people," he said.
But he added that Israelis
should not be expected to
deal with "terrorists who
come across the border and
murder their children."
Schoenbrun said he

Harrassment Of Soviet Jews Continues
LONDON, (JTA) — New
reports of harassment,
break-ins and threats
against visa applicants and
Jews generally continued to
pour in from the Soviet
Union Oct. 24; less than a
week after the an¬
nouncement in Washington
of the U.S. -'Soviet under-
. standing that was supposed
to eliminate harassment and
ease visa restrictions.
Jewish sources in the Soviet
Union " reported , that
militiamen continued to
invade the apartments oc¬
cupied by Moscow Jews who
lost their jobs after applying
for exit visas. The
militiamen said their orders
were to check on unem¬
ployed persons of Jewish
nationality who had applied
for emigration, the sources
said. In Kiev, hooligans
broke into the apartment of
Jewish activist Yuri Tar-
takowski and stole money
and documents while.Tar-
