During World War II he served in the United States Office of Defense Transportation. Since 1946 he has been an insurance agent. A man of great personal cour¬ age and exceptional Integrity, Mr. Grauel was a member of Hagan¬ ah and part of tho crew of the famous "Illegal" Immigrant ship "Exodus," which was turned back in 1947 from the shores of Pales¬ tine with 4,500 refugees aboard by the British Navy and made to return to a German port. Making his first appearance In Columbus, Mr. Timofeyew will present a program carefully Se¬ lected to display his versatility and sensitivity as one of the great operatic talents of our time. Accompanying him at the planO will be his wife, Angelina Puccini Timofeyew, grandnlece of Gla- como Puccini, composer of La Boheme, Tosca and many other operatic works. Mr. Timofeyew, .through suc¬ cessful appearances at the most famous opera theatres In Europe and Central and South America, has won acclaim for his extraord¬ inary performances In Pagliacci, Tosca and Othello, among many other operas. In addition he has won the plaudits of audiences for his authentic interpretations of popular music and folklore from the Russian, Italian, Jugoslavian, Spanish and Yiddish musical liter¬ ature. Born In Ekaterlnodar, Russia, Nlcolay Timofeyew, to comply with his physician father's wishes, studied medicine but turned to agronomy, in which field he re¬ ceived a doctor's degree.
