REPUBLICANS ADOPT STRONG ISRAEL PLATFORM URGED BY NATIONALISTS
PIIILADKLPHIA (JTA).—A dispute in the Resolution.^ Com¬ mittee of tlie Republican Niilionol Convention this week resulted in a strongly-worded statement on Israel, baci<ed by the "nation¬ alist" wing of the party, which was substitutefi for the "interna¬ tionalists'" cautious and cool version. The text of tho Palestine plank, as finally a<lopted, reads:
''Wo welcome Israel inlo the family of nations and take pride in tlie fact that the Kepublican Party was tho first to call for the establishment of a free and Independent Jewish Commonwealth. The vacillatJon of the Dcmocni.tic Administration on this question has undermined the prestige of the United Nations. Subject to the letter and spirit of the United Nations Cliarter, we pledge Io Israel, fuU recognition, with Its boundaries as sanctioned by the' United Nations, and aid ia developing its economy."
