HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
Vicki (Carlotta Victoria Forster-Clarke) Cuddy, was a professional photographer from Worthington, Ohio. Cuddy was born in 1914 and passed away in 1999. She was married to William T. Cuddy, who died in 1997. They had two sons; William H. Cuddy and John C. Cuddy.
Cuddy did portrait and product photography, as well as landscapes and more artistic work. The first show of photography at the Columbus Museum of Art included her work among that of five photographers. Her professional affiliations included being a founding member of the Ohio Professional Photographers Association (OPPA) and serving as the association’s president. She also taught at the Winona School of Photography in Indiana.
In addition to photography, she was involved in theater as a performer and manager. Cuddy helped found the Gateway Players and was co-owner of the Columbus Light Opera Company. She played leading roles in many of their productions. As a long time member of the groups Mothersingers and Ladies of Note, singing was one her past times. Cuddy also served on the boards of several community service organizations, such as Project Hope of Ohio, Maryhaven, Inc. and the Ohio Radio Reading Service.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The collection is composed of a sample of the professional photography work of Vicki Cuddy dating circa 1948-1960. Portraiture found in the collection includes children, families and weddings. There are formal, studio portraits as well as informal shots. Product photography
