HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE COLLECTION
Artists on Art is a project of The Artists’ Organization (TAO) to document the life and work of contemporary Ohio artists from diverse backgrounds working in a variety of media. Interviews are recorded with each artist. Additionally biographical material and photographs of their work are collected. Video clips, photographs and biographical information about the participating artists are available to the public through the Artists on Art website.

The Artists’ Organization was formed in 1984 in order to initiate alternative, innovative programming in the visual arts. Members are artists, artist-writers or artist-curators who, in addition to consistent studio activity, have given significant service to the field. Most major projects have been partially funded by grants from the Ohio Arts Council, matched with funds and collaboration from regional campuses such as Ohio Wesleyan University, Wright State University, Ohio University at Athens, Fort Hayes, Ohio University at Lancaster, etc. Additionally, funds have been obtained from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and the Ohio Humanities Council.
SCOPE AND CONTENTS OF THE COLLECTION
The Artists on Art Collection includes the interview transcriptions, video and audiotape created by The Artists’ Organization for artists participating in the Artists on Art project. The interviews are accompanied by biographical surveys, news clippings, exhibit catalogs and images of their artwork
