These files document court cases that the Governor's Office had an interest in. The files include correspondence, memos, and court cases, some of which were inherited from the previous administration of Governor George Voinovich and so pre- date the Taft files ( 1989- 1997). Case issues include Tort reform, school funding ( DeRolph), apportionment, school vouchers, partial birth abortion, and tobacco settlement. Staff litigation files include those of Chief Legal Counsel Judith French, Deputy Chief Legal Counsel James Tassie, and Elizabeth ( Betsy) Schuster, who served as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel in 2003 and Chief Legal Counsel from 2004 to 2006.
